As a senator, I have a voice to support all of the school districts in my area, which is a responsibility I make a priority. I will continue to work hard to keep money for education in what matters most--teachers and students.
In the past, I have served on the Special Committee on Education as well as the Senate Education Committee. These opportunities have allowed me to see the importance of quality of education for all Kansans. During these trying times, balancing what is best for Kansas children with other priorities has been a challenge on the administrative level as well as in the classroom. As your senator, I will continue supporting control to the local school districts rather than with mandates from Topeka. These past six months have shown more than ever that a one size fits all approach to education is not in the best interest of educators and students. Safety and quality education will continue to be my top priorities as we move forward in Kansas schools.
I will continue to advocate to provide the core services needed to keep our state running efficiently.

Balancing state and federal regulations with common sense
We continue to adapt and overcome the negative impact of the Coronavirus in the present pandemic. This scourge has affected the daily lives of Kansans. We keep in our thoughts and prayers to the grieving families who have fallen victim to this virus. Our gratitude goes to the first responders and those who care for the weak and inflicted.
During the upcoming session, there will be plenty of discussion and input concerning statewide health policy. Funding will unfortunately be a big driver in this debate.
I will continue to fight to uphold the second amendment and your right to bear arms.

With the help of Federal support, joined with Farm Bureau and other ag groups to reverse the EPA ruling on the Waters of the U.S., which gave EPA authority over bodies of water they don't control.
Both chambers passed Senate Bill 331 establishing two new State Parks: the Flint Hill Trail State Park (total 117 miles of trails) and the Little Jerusalem State Park located in northwest Kansas. This bill originated in the Senate Ag and Natural Resource Committee.
